Launch Party
written by Jordan Fyfe
We are still overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we received at our Launch Party last Friday. It’s phenomenal to be able to share our excitement with you - our community.
Less than 6 months ago we were sitting, drinking tea, deciding what we were going to do with our year; get a part time job? Go to Africa? Rent a studio? Who would’ve known we’d be here, owning our own business, sharing something that we truly believe in and making amazing connections with such fabulous people!
We have been conflicted about when to have our Launch and if it was necessary but when Kerry gave us the opportunity to have it at Feld & Co, our favourite space, we couldn’t resist. We’ve spent a while planning, all while setting up our business. It’s been a hectic, but such an amazing time and we’re so glad we did it.
The Launch Party went perfectly, barely any dramas! Nobody caught fire, poured tea all over themselves and amazingly no rain! The rain stopped at 5pm and started when we had just packed everything back into the cars at 11.30pm, what luck!
I’ve been religiously listening to Behind the Clipboard (a local events podcast) on my way to work for the past month and their tips have really helped us in organising the smooth running of our event, run sheets are my new favourite thing.
We were so happy that so many people got involved in the experiences we created. We consider ourselves to be in the industry of Experiences rather than Events because we want to nurture the idea of events transforming from standing around to actually doing something memorable and meaningful.
Everyone getting involved in the “Community Gallery”, prints available here.
We loved the interactions people had with our amazing model Sally, some really beautiful drawings came out of it. We’d love to see any drawings you took home, please #openhandscreative or message them to us! It was a great test for our upcoming sketch nights where we will have live models.
We had some really phenomenal food. In classic Jordan and Morgan style, we had a grazing table, with the most beautiful cake from The Fruitcake Lady as the centerpiece. Our families contributed some delicious hot food like sliders, sausage rolls and mushroom cups.
We know events like this can create a lot of waste, so we tried our hardest to minimise our waste. We used almost no plastic, kept all the flowers from Mabey Street Floral and used black-board signs instead of printing. There were so many things that we considered, here’s a blog about all the ways we minimised waste at our event.
When you reach out to connect, it’s incredible how many people are willing to help. Collaboration over competition every time!

To Sally for being our amazing model.
And of course to our family and friends, who support us, problem solve with us, stay back, come early and all around astound us.
