My Engagement Party at Feld & Co

Written by Morgan Schaafsma

For all those interested this is a blog post about my Engagement Party. Although I am not an event planner, I do LOVE organising parties.

To sum up the event, it was a Cocktail Garden Party held at Feld & Co, Booragoon, Perth. We drank delicious cocktails under the festoon lights surrounded by flowers and good music. The highlight of the event was the Mario Kart Tournament, where a champion was crowned after many races around Princess Peach’s Gardens. Twirls, polaroids, and pom poms filled the room with brightness and laughter. It was a magical night celebrating our love story!

5 tips for a sustainable + epic event:

1.      Floating cheese table. No waste, access on all sides, looks good and gets demolished!

2.      Glassware over plastic disposables. Seriously level up and use glassware for your events. We used Feld & Co’s glassware which is all inclusive in the hire cost. Other options: hire external glassware, buy eclectic op shop glasses, or use what you have already!

3.      Get creative and avoid balloons! Aren’t we all sick of balloons? They look tacky and are extremely bad for the environment; plus, there are so many other alternatives out there. For our engagement party we handmade pom poms for decorations. We also decided to have fresh flowers from Euka Floral Design.

4.      Run sheets. Make your run sheet look pretty, then print it out and glue tack it to all the walls. There is nothing worse than being at an event and not knowing what time speeches will be!

5.      Always always have an activity! Ours: Mario Kart Tournament. Having an activity will allow everyone to mingle and get to know each other. Not everyone will rip up the dance floor, so it is nice to have another activity happening to keep everyone engaged & interested! (My normal go to activity is a craft station, but for our Engagement Party we really wanted to display Troy’s favourite hobby!)
